Use Firefox? Here's a few tips

Here's some conifg settings you can change to help speed Firefox up, and fix a problem with it acting sluggish after being inactive for a while.

Type about:config in the address bar and hit enter.

Scroll way down to network.http.pipelining, double click on it and set the value to "true".

    Set network.http.proxy.pipelining to "true".

    Set network.http.pipelining.maxrequests to 8.

Scroll down some more to nglayout.initialpaint.delay and set it to 0.

Now right click, click New -> Boolean and type config.trim_on_minimize for the preference name. Set it's value to false.

If you picked up Firefox 0.9 and don't like the new theme, you can get the old theme from http://www.quadrone.org/graphics/#Qute

I have been using firefox lately but a couple things annoy me about it, like not being able to customize my toolbar like i want to, not being able to see pr, and the weird way it scrolls down pages.

also it seems to act up every now and again and be slow on clicking through links.

Scroll way down to network.http.pipelining, double click on it and set the value to "true".
              Turns on pipelining

              Set network.http.proxy.pipelining to "true".
              Turns on pipelining for proxies.

              Set network.http.pipelining.maxrequests to 8.
Number of simultaneous requests to the same server when using pipelining. (Word is, 8 is max, anything over is ignored)

Scroll down some more to nglayout.initialpaint.delay and set it to 0.
The length of time, in milliseconds, Firefox waits after a response from the server before starting to display the page.

Now right click, click New -> Boolean and type config.trim_on_minimize for the preference name. Set it's value to false.
Corrects the bug that causes Mozilla to act sluggish if you leave it inactive for a while. You can read about it here.

                  Check out the SmoothWheel extension.

I use this to check PR. I agree it's annoying Google hasn't added support for their toolbar yet.
As far as toolbar customization, not sure what you mean.

Yea I just noticed that. I got it working.

But your thing at the top shows "about :config", the space was giving me problems too.

I like to keep everything on 2 rows in ie, including google toolbar, in firefox the google toolbar hack needs its own row so I had to customize it in a weird way which is taking some getting used to, not really a big deal.

Ill check out that smoothwheel thing now

I like it.. but I still prefer opera and "image zoom".. heheh
firefox's imagezoom plugin is crap, and doesn't work with the new release.. don't know if there's a better plugin yet..

also working with keyconfig to see if I can get it to mimic opera's key-gestures (press 'z' to go back one page, etc..)

also looking to see how I can use firefox google search like opera..
(in the address bar, type: g doohickies) to search for doohickies

                                Enter about:config & set keyword.URL to http://www.google.com/search?btnG=Google+Search&q=

Then you can type your search term in the addy bar. Haven't messed with the other two items you mention.
