    A Black Pope?

    Do you think there is any chance for Cardinal Francis Arinze to become the next Pope?

    I personally would love to see him as the next Pope. I think that would send a great message to the world. Unfortunately, I don't think the Catholic Church has the courage to make such a bold statement?

          what statement would that send to the world? that the pathetic antiquated notions of catholicism are not above a publicity stunt? the catholic church is in it's death throws, and for this i am truely glad.

                  What you have to remember is the millions and millions of people who still subcribe to and follow what I agree are pathetic antiquated notions. It would send a very positive message of racial tolerence which I believe is always needed. JMO ICBW

                      He's way too conservative. I'd like to see a pope that has a somewhat modern view on things like abortion and stuff.

                                              the church should not need to send a public message of racial tolerance. it should be implied in their doctorine. appointing a black pope would be nothing more than show. what they need to focus on is getting someone who will not tolerate child molestation, and address all the corruption in the sick little fraternity, they call catholicism. that is where the real statements needs to be made.
