If memory serves I think the $/Euro was launched at 1.18 in Jan '99 and went to approx 0.80 by '02 and then back to 1.00 (ie parity) in mid/late 02 and up to 1.3 now.SIG TOO BIG! Still, what he was asking is 'how strong' it was vs. the dollar, and a large part of strength is current trend. Over the last 4 years, the trend of the euro is strong vs. the USD (static-to-modest growth vs. other world currencies). A wise investor would take note that while some of euro's growth is due to solid fiscals on europe's part, it's also due to pisspoor performance of the greenback.
