Nope, it's Akamai that's causing the problems.. I'd had my suspicions, and /. conbfirmed.
For those that don't know, Akamai server the DNS records for many of the major sites like yahoo and google. It's been debated that having all of the large sites served from one group could be A Bad Idea, and it seems that it might indeed be the case ;)Comment
