will there be a harddisk successor anytime soon?

The thought of mechanical technology in my computer that resembles a record player that hasnt changed much over the last 30 years starts to worry me.

What will be next to replace the flaws of mechanical parts (hd failures) and when?

No idea when, but solid state will be the next kicker for mass storage, it will just still take a while to come around I bet.

10 years ago, i came up with a computer that was basically a long stick with sockets.

like a multiple inlet extension plug, only it hd sockets for chips. Each chip would be a certian program/ application.

therefor all your programs were already running at bootup with their own built in ram. also, much harder to pirate. This was before p2p was even a glimpse in it's mothers eye..

plus, , i was really high..
