Strange question. I got the bit about you writing a script, but a script which didn't treat a non-unique visitor as a non-unique visitor would produce some very odd stats.
You can't make assumptions about how the TGP will be operated. Although most do open trades in new windows, some of the most surfer-friendly ones do not. You have to allow the webmaster to operate either way.
A more interesting problem might be to consider that since small "rings" of webmaster trading together are fairly common these days, do you track only IP's (which means that if trade partner #3 sends me someone who already visited from trade partner #2, the second visit is counted as a raw from #2 and scores him some extra productivity) or do you link source and IP, so this visitor is tracked as unique on both visits. I can see pros and cons whichever route you go...
