Oh and when we are talking about America... well, how many of them still think that Iraq was involved in 9/11.. or how many of them could show Italy on the map? So it's obvious that they also cannot distinguish between a few fallen child molesting priests and the man who had a great mind, great heart and gave a great example to millions of believers and non believers.
And keep in mind that he was from Poland... and he has done really much for our conutry, so that's probably a 1 more reason why he loved him so much.
Do I stand for all the values the Catholic Church stands for? Absolutely not.. but I definitely believe in what I wrote above...

I want to reply to your post and clarify my previous posts. The pope has done a lot of good things for the world, from what I understand especially the people ot poland and eastern europe. I'm sure the list of things he has done that are good could fill pages. My point is that he, like all of us, was just a man and with that comes the shortfallings of being human. He said some things that are pretty hurtful to many, for example how he said that gay marrige is "a new ideology of evil" I'm sorry, but to me calling someone evil just because they love another person is a pretty screwed up thing.
again, though, I'm not trying bash, nor praise the pope. He was a guy, just a guy, that was put into a position of power. He did some good, he did some bad. In the end he has not effected my life ( that I know of ) It just makes me sad when I see any person of power refuse to accept reality and the results of this refusal are people getting needlessly hurt.
