    is 'cloning' existing scripts illegal in the US?

    just been speaking to a couple of people who tell me that cloning existing scripts is illegal is this true or not?
    the hun gets revenue from pre-paid gallery placements on the top 15 spaces and banners.
    the rest of thegalleries are free placements.

      not copying the code that falls under copyright law lol

      what i mean is say a script generates 2000 pages every second in php i heard that if you make an exact clone of that script using your own code it is illegal

      i dont think it is personally but i wanted to check with the keyboard lawyers forst ;)

        Code is copywrited, not the functions of the program

        but why would it be exact same anyway? at least add some more features or something

          huh... not unless they have a patent on the specific techniques of the software... you can create your own version of any software as long as you dont copy the code...
