Afaik most/all Sony middle class and above PAL cams can read NTSC tapes. Sales clerks usually have no clue about features like that though. I'd advise you to take a tape with you and try it out in some store, that's what I did. I use a TRV33E for NTSC capturing.
The sales clerk swore it wouldn't work

Digital output over firewire is true NTSC with NTSC tapes of course.
Analog output is converted to PAL, so you can preview your NTSC tapes on a PAL TV. Nice advantage over an imported NTSC cam/player imo.Comment
