Perhaps we should look at him as a man who promised something to someone and did everything in his power to keep his promise, despite what others BELIEVED was in her best interest.
The guy does LOOK like an idiot, but if he's being genuine, he went farther than anyone I could possibly imagine would go, to keep a promise to someone.
