    i installed that shareware program for multi rename files and serarch and replace in docs and that little shit has put itself w/o asking on the desktop, quick launch and in startup

    it's more agressive than icq 2003 beta

    and you can't switch off tip of the day at the start

      Less than 30 seconds to delete the shortcuts and turn off the startup by deleting the icon in the startup folder or unchecking it's entry in Run>msconfig>startup

      Although it's inconsiderate by the software author to not give the options to choose or not choose those items during installation, what you have described is very mild considering how aggressive some shareware is, especially those bundled with adware or other programs.

          Misread at first, you said "tool-tip at startup"...

          Have you checked to make sure options and preferrence settings may be split in more than one place? Sometimes they are labeled tricky Personally I don't mind a splash-screen, tool-tip or even plug for author and his other projects if a software is doing a needed function for free, but where I draw the line is software that has to "phone home" in order to function or is bundled with other programs and won't funtion if they are removed.

              i agree it's less than 30 secs but dammit i hate this shit who needs file renamer in startup

              yep it's a little kid compared to adware shareware :-|
