Brown bear, it's a reactionary love-hate relationship. They hate Americans because Americans prosper and Americans hate Mexicans (the whole illegal immigrant issue persists).
So, I'm thinking they're going to sieze the opportunity to turn a successful American into their bitch for a night or more.
