    .htaccess question

I'm trying to find a way to actually redirect hotlinkers to another page instead of just showing them the little red x image.

Is there a way to do this? I thought there was but I can't find it anywhere.

    Thanks.

I could be wrong about this, but as far as i know, you can only redirect people that hotlink your image by opening it in a new window. If the person links to it on their page, they'll simply get the red X.

Anyways, to redirect someone opening your image...

    RewriteRule .*\.(gif|jpg|jpeg|bmp)$ http://www.redirecturl.com [R,NC]
    26 + 6 = 1

Ahh. Okay, thanks. I wasn't sure if it could be done if they they tried loading it in a page.

I'll just settle for the red x.

you could redirect it to another image, a 1k gif with your url...

Funny, I noticed someone using Getright on one of my sites tonight and I decided I wanted to do more than just block them so I wrote a little CGI script that creates an image with their ip and a 'please fuck off' message for them to download instead ( http://jamess.boxx.ca/cgi-bin/fuckoff_leecher.cgi ). I wouldn't use it against hotlinkers though as it would still suck up resources and bandwidth.

          cheers
