    Professional Adult Designers

and I'm talking about the real pros, not the fucking tools with a ripped copy of photoshop.

are you tired of getting fucked by both the kiddies cutting your throat as well as cocksmoker clients that flake on you in one way or another?

I'm thinking again of something that I've been thinking of for years. Without giving away the farm here, it's.... well, sort of a designers union type thing. (not exactly, but close enough). Would be something that would tie the pros together in a way that currently does not exist.

I think it would be beneficial to all.

but I don't know...... if anyone would be interested, then let yourself be heard.

    otherwise, fuck it.

You are talking about some kind of elite designers group? But then the question that rises is, are YOU elite?

    I would like to join

Me, and MGK have discussed this at length...

We came to the conclusion it would be very complicated, but an "Adult Designers Guild" is becomming very necessary to protect not only people needing work done but protect artists as well.

I would gladly pay Fee's just like I pay my fee's to FSC and have clients come to the guild knowing that pro's that they can choose from are available.

Its clear potential clients are getting there asses raped by wannabee's everyday here now.

I think that the elite is already there. Everyone knows the names.

I think it'd be a good idea myself.. too many fucking scammers out there right now.

It would depend how much more expensive the people in the "union" were though.

If you can do this and keep the rates for sites reasonable, I think this could succeed nicely.

i think a scriptlance idea would work, but basicly have high end qualified designers and people bid on projects ect.

could also split profit on jobs, help each other out ect

i think your idea would be cool anyway if everyone threw straight dice

Why would a socalled elite deisgner be scared? If they are that good the clients will still go to them. Check out Mike W he is still booked for 3 months in a row all the time so I guess he is doing something good

Not to sound presumptious, but I consider myself a "professional," not necessarily because of qualifications but because I do this for a living.

This is my bread and butter, this is what puts food on the table, puts a roof over my nieces heads and puts them through school.

It is not something I do for beer and pot money while I go to college to learn a "real" career.

I would be interested in something like this.

I've been in this biz going on 3 years now and I've seen some strange changes.

I noticed an increase in b2b business about a year ago and mentioned it to Thomas when he was working for us on the Diabolical Galleries project.

When we moved on from that I started doing gallery design work for others and just in that short amount of time about 7 months the market has become flooded with gallery designers and the majority of them are doing it at ridiculously low cut rate prices.

Some of it's outsourcing, and I think some of these guys are former outsource designers. I see these portfolios and honestly it doesn't matter what they charge they could try and give it away for free...but the fact is free dog shit is still dog shit.

There have only been a few of these cut rate designers I have seen who I would even consider competition and have praised their work when they posted it.

But honestly all cut rate designers I don't even worry about them as competition other than as nuisances like a fly that continues to land on your nose while you're half asleep in the morning.

Why? Because if price is the only way you can be competitive it won't last long.

If they can cut my prices by almost half but the quality of the work is as such that the client won't see a decent return on it, chances are they'll eventually make their way to one of us who know how to do this and do it day in and day out for a living.

But as I said they're a nuisance. And those nuisances continue to grow every day.
These guys make it hard for me to negotiate work for a reasonable price for the smallest of orders at times. But I don't budge...because as I stated above I know they'll eventually have to make their way back to me or one of the others who actually know what they're doing.

Problem is, there would be tyoo much infighting, and I think it would not take long before they started to cut each others throats, tghen poof committe is disolved....

Plus new guys can be just as good, depends on their background, and from the person needing the design work done, it may be more cost effective.

I have reviewed as many desgners sites as I have been shown either from a bbs or from a personal reference.
I concider myself like alot of other people.
I beleive in you guys. To make the sites for the sponsors. People like myself promote sponsors who have tours that convert. At the end of the day if a tour dosnt convert. No matter how many cheap shitty gallery designs there are. (like my shitty galleries surfers just want to click out of my gallery as quickly as they can to my sponsor with the nice tour. They dont want to bookmark my shitty gallery. do they? No, I know where they are bookmarking.. My sponsors tour page with the big free movie on it that you guys made for my sponsor with my refer code.

I might be a small ant in the adult world, but this little ant sees all.

So keep up the good work guys and keep making the sponsor tours great for the surfers people like myself send.

                            Triple A for Effort!

I don't think a 'designers guild' concept would work too well, but some sort of organization would be a real benefit - both to designers & clients.

I'm a full time designer, but I don't freelance much, so it would be great for me to have a resouce to pick up freelance jobs when I have time.
