i dont mind being on speaker phone when no one else is there to hear the convo, though it can be annoyin hearing the echo.. but it is very rude when others are in the room to hear and im trying to tell you something.

That's the problem, I don't know if there is someone else listening...I recognize that it's a speaker phone and start thinking if someone may be listening. Next thing is when I call someone, I want her/his full attention...always getting the impression that people on speaker phone do alot of things like cleaning the room etc. while I'm speaking. So, I think it's ok for friends and family, but not for customers/affiliates.

Btw, leads to my worst phone experience: Called a customer who was using a bluetooth headset and guess what he did while talking to me...PISSING. I don't mind people eating, drinking, whatever that much but PISSING while talking to someone isn't nice.

Apart from the privacy issue, I personally think it is rude most of the time.

It gives the impression that you cannot devote your total attention to your caller and need your hands free to do other stuff at the same time.

When someone calls me on a speaker phone I just pretend I can't hear them so they pick up the phone
