Cashing UK (GBP currency) checks in the USA
Knowing that a lot of Netponders reside in the UK and probably have the opposite problem, I'm hoping that some of you here might have had my problem and know a good solution.
Basically, I've been working with a UK based affiliate network, and they ONLY do checks in GBP or a UK-only bank transfer called a BACS. So... I'm stuck with checks in GBP which my major US based bank says would take upto 6 weeks to clear, and would probably come with a per-check fee.
So how can I cash these checks in timely manner without incurring huge fees?
I've been thinking I might open an account with a Brittish bank and then just wire the money to my account here, or be able to use a Visa check card. Any suggestions? Thanks a lot!
