There is so much about a kid like this no one will ever understand - chances are he was ignorant about Hitler and just latched onto the whole Nazi concept because it was anti-establishment.

what a shame. the biggest threat when i was in hs was who would kick the shit out of who. never were guns and metal detectors even a thought. i would be afraid if i had a kid now to let him/her go to school.

Seriously though, it seems from the article that he shared Hitler's belief in racial purity, but as it applied to Indians instead of Aryans. So the philosophy is what he agreed with:

He shared the Nazi goal of racial purity, saying that when he talked in school about that for his own Chippewa tribe, "I get the same old argument which seems to be so common around here. 'We need to mix all the races, to combine all the strengths.'"

Tell me about it, I would love to have kids in a few years but reading the news daily makes me afraid. These days no one's safe... what a great world we're living in huh

you're right, I just read another story that confirms this. Apparently he was very educated in the Nazi philosophy. He also said on the forum that he has a lot of friends who agreed with him

That's just it. In when Hilter was in power, very few Germans fit the profile of what Hilter thought was the "pure Arian race". Hilter himself, in fact, did not fit this profile.

This kid just had a need to think he was better than everyone else.
