    PLS help, problems with my new HD, you know what this means?

    Hi,

    I just bought a new HD. A MAxtor D740X.

    Here are the jumper settings to set the HD to MASTER

    But when I set the jumper, like the black one in the pic, my PC won't go further then the bios.

    But when I look at the picture, you see an AC limititaion jumper as well.

    Is that an extre jumper? I mean in the package there was only one jumper.

          just use 1 vertical jumper and get rid of horisontal

                  btw do you wanna set your old hard as slave or what?

                          Well I just only inserted my new HD, so no Master/slave problems...But I don't get it into master My English is not that good, does the pic sais, when you want master, you need 2 jumpers?

                              usually maxtor set their hards to master when they sell em...
                              maybe your motherboard doesnt support big hards?

                                  I have a Maxtor D740X-6L

                                  Have 2 drives...

                                  the Maxtor is set as my master. IN a TWO Drive computer..
                                  will not work unless you have a slave drive pluged in also.

                                  the jumper goes in the last set of pins
                                  next to the hard drive cable....

                                  make sure you have the red of the grey cable (hard drive)
                                  pluged in towards the power source...

                                  hope this helps...

                                      Hi I bought a new conductor 80 cable, and it works now :-) Guess the cable was damaged
