Ok, out of these 3. What would you say would be the best?
Toyota Corrola
Honda Civic
Scion Tc
Corrola is nice but the craftmanship in the comestic details leave something to be desired.
Civic is a true winner amongst the three. VERY reliable, good craftmanship on all cosmetics, interior, exterior, even looks good
Scion looks cool, but still a Toyota, poor cosmetic craftmanship.
If I were you I'd hit up Hond and check out some certified pre owned Civics and Accords. They still have waranty ont hem and are actualy truly refurbished. Most dealers just clean the car up, replace plugs and voila. Honda actually rips the entire car a part and rebuilds.
That's what my girl and I did and could not be any happier. The car is extremely fucking reliable, quiet ( a bit of engine noise on hard accelerations but the drive itself is quiet, I sometimes have to double check to make sure the engine is still running) and is easy as heck on gas. A full tank lasts us roughly a month.
If you're not impressed with the Civic nor the Accord then I suggest you either look into a CRV or head off to the Subaru dealer and check out their entry level cars.

I'll definately check that out Thanks for the advice
there is a new convertible coming out later this year....first from Pontiac and then Saturn...looks really cool actually and is priced around $25K...i'd consider that if i was you....
I got my 2005 Volvo S40 for just over 20k. Its a great car
I saw one of those driving down the road the other day. I had to look twice because it was so hideous. The bigger one looks good, but this one looks like they just squished it
I got my fully-loaded Honda Element for 19,600...and I love it. Great gas mileage, plug my iPod/Sirius radio directly into the dash, and I'm getting around 24 mpg.

It's a nice car...but a bit much if i'm just gonna be driving it most of the time.
Two words: CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED. Your 20k budget will give you access to higher quality cars, as long as they are certified, you may pay slightly more than you would from a private seller but you also have the possibility for an extended warranty as well as a certified vehicle.
If you want a cheap car ... get a echo or a civic ... the devaluation on american cars is waaaaaaay too high .

why do ppl care which car depereciates in value faster, especially when talking about $20k cars.
is it really a big deal if you gonna be able to sell it for $1k less or $1k more when you sell it in 3 years and buy a $60k car?
get the car that isn't total crap and looks nice
Often it's a lot more then 1k$ difference ...

I would get either a used Acura or Accord. You can also get one of the lower end bmw series like the 3series or z-something, but it will have a lot of miles on it.
I would prefer a new acural like a TL or something like that since I don't really like the style of the Accords too much (even tho I have one)... But they are very reliable though. I always forget to maintain my car like change oil, spark plugs and whatever else it is you are supposed to do, but my car runs perfect, even with a lot of miles on it.
I would not get a civic, they are really small and not very safe I have heard in case of collisionsa/accidents.
