Google groups. worth wasting time on?

ive got a few good google groups and people are starting to flock to them. i already have a shitload of members and i never even set anything up... what good are these?

I have about 150 of them. Members are trickling in, but not in huge numbers.

I would really like to hear from someone who is having success converting anything with them.

Im seeing many members signup on a few of them... what would a group called say "gay videos" be worth with 100 members? how many members would a "large" group have?

I would have to know about the interaction in the group. The "post count".

For example, I would think a group with 50 active members creating nice keyword text conversation to be more valuable than a group with 200 registered members who are not active.

Just my opinon.

Big groups on yahoo has about 5000-6000 members,my group has 900.Google groups wont be much different. Good thing about it, new members coming all the time, the bad thing about it most of them are leachers, that just want to see your promotion content. I see it as one more additional way to advertise your site, not sure about convertion rate, will be more wise in few months time, so I'll post my statistics.

I have one group with about 500 members. I don't do much with it, but I've spammed it a few times with sponsor photo-and-affiliate-link. Got a sale today, so it can't be totally worthless.

Offering sponsored blog posts and custom writing services.

yeah, but the good thing about that is, there are those few and far between people that love buying shit...I get about 1-2 a day on my yahoo groups...

I have one yahoo group that consistantly makes $200-300 a month...on freeloader traffic...now I am trying to emulate that x50

I have 3 Yahoo groups...

One is 4.5 years old and is called "Hardcore India" which has over 3000 members. I started one for Sahara last Aug/Sep which now has over 1000. These both have posts made now and again but are really handy for me to spam my various sites to surfers legally

I never touch my third group and this still has over 600 members and I only post there to promote my sites once every few months.

Most members of Yahoo groups are free loaders and only want to see the sample images I add to folders rather than pay to join the sites my groups promote but... there are the odd one or two I'm sure who do eventually pay out some cash

I also have my groups fully moderated to keep out other spammers. I have a few surfers who try to post a few pics with an invitation to join their group. I edit out their invitation and just allow the pics... LOL.

I started a Google group last year and it's done zilch... So stick to Yahoo is my advise

i have 50 or so groups dedicated to porn stars....they are the porn stars name only, not pornstarfans or lovepornstar etc just /pornstar...and these seem to do REALLY well.....lots of fans think they are the actual porn stars official group..and I try and get the actual porn star into them when I can find them, that does even better...i always keep the front page updated with the latest stuff on the net of that pornstar, and I make pretty nice sales from it..mediumpimpin and nscash are awesome for that shit
