What Do You Think Of Submitting Sites To Dmoz?

Do you think its a waste of time doing so. Do they edit their sites in a timely manner. What has been your experience with them?

It depends on many factors, but it's better you focus on Google and Yahoo for traffic

Always list my sites in Dmoz. To get in Googles directory you have to submit to Dmoz, also many of the smaller directory use the Dmoz database? So you get hundreds of free links on high pagerank sites why say no to that?

Respectfully disagree. It all depends on what category you want to list in at DMOZ. They have so many fucking categories with no editors it's ridiculous. A while back, out of boredom, I even filled out the ap to become a category editor -- no reply. wtf?

They need enough people to run the show efficiently. There's tons of 404 links and domain expired shit at DMOZ (especially in the Adult categories) that it's pointless for a surfer to even hang out there.

As for the free-linking with sites using the DMOZ db, I'll go with you on that. But Netscape still needs to get their nose out of the pussy and get back to work!

Ya, getting listed there is really a problem. Sometimes it's done in a few days, sometimes you never get listed. I got the impression that some editors just fill their categories with their own sites or sites of friends. In some categories, you find like 15 links to different sites on one domain with almost no content, bad design and popups...but when submitting a good looking clean site you never get a listing...

I heard it is what Yahoo uses ... and doesn't it cost a bomb to register adult with Yahoo?

I agree with scottie0779. DMOZ is a waste basket...I don't understand what rules they direct when decline good site to list.
