        I have to agree with about everything posted on this thread. The good, the bad, the ugly.

        Hopefully things will work out and Joe will land on his feet and finally calm down. Either way it is a sad event.

                I posted this just a bit ago on that other board.

                In Florida, Aggravated Assault is a threat made with a weapon. Not a gun though as that would have been listed specifically as an enhancement (gun charges in florida carry mandatory sentences). Could have been anything like a pool cue or a bottle, etc. Usually amts to someone holding up a stick and saying something like he will knock them back into the next century. It is a felony but also know that in Florida cops arrest with charges that are reviewed by the asst state attorneys who have to make what is called a filing decision. The charges in fact could be elevated or reduced depending on what the prosecutor thinks of them. Right now, I am sure hired counsel by Joe E is attempting to get that pushed to a 1st MM charge of simple assault.

                The battery charge can be anything from some punching to a simple push. It was not a massive beatdown as then it would have been listed as an aggravated battery. Joe E is lucky thats not the charge because in Florida Ag Battery on a +65 yr old carries a mandatory three year stint in the pokey.

                My experience has been that money settles these cases quite nicely. An agreement made with the victims and suddenly the prosecutor is getting calls saying, "well now that I think of it, I wasnt really thinking he would hit me with that stick" and "well I pushed him as well and I think I would rather not testify".

                The Dealing in Stolen Property is a second degree felony which is classified as a max 15 yr felony. The Ag Assault is also a 2nd degree and the Battery charge is a 3rd degree Felony charge which is a 5 yr charge. The pot charge is a 1 yr max 1st degree Misdemeanor charge. For severity rank on potential sentence the most serious is the ag assault with the DSP charge next and then the battery and lastly the pot charge.

                In Florida, upon conviction for a felony, the sentence range is decided by a points system. Charges are assigned points, with additional points added for previous record and other factors such as victim injuries. Unless Joe E has a major record, these charges if they all hold up (unlikely but just for the sake of discussion say they do)score at the range for discretionary state prison with a sentence range of about 18 months. Thats assuming he has no prior record and the victim injury was slight.

                        JoeE was one of the first people I ever met one on one in this biz, it was internext years ago....we met up with him for the first time on the gaming floor in vegas and he loved my wifes frog backpack, and offered her a $1k chip for it....she debated and then was like, wtf why not!.....he threw the backpack back at her and said keep it all.....
                        we ended up hanging with him all weekend, and he was just a cool ass mother fucker, nothin but a good guy that took care of the people around him...it may have been for attention, but how many of us don't do shit for attention when we are fucked up.

                        and on a side note...if the cops walked into my house right now, i would probably have similar charges to what he has, aside from the assualt, but if my neighbor walked into our yard and bitched at me and I pushed him, i would have that charge too....YES, pushing someone can be an assault charge

                                            Looks like several threads talking about JoeE. Basically most true. The good, the bad, the ugly.

                                            Personally he is very charming and charasmatic. In business he was as ruthless as they come. (Not necessarily a bad thing)

                                            Either way.....he is part of the history of what we all do and many of us have some history with him in many ways.

Back in 1996 there was a misunderstanding about some money Joe owed me from one of his site that went defunct. When I saw him at a Ft. Lauderdale party I asked him whatsup. He told his accountant who was by his side to cut me a check the next day. And he did. That's good people in my book. And drugs? Who cares... NO ONE in this biz has had more charisma & drive than Joe Elkind.

                                                                                                                    i met joe at the IA2000 (currently known as internext) in las vegas back in '98. i actually was there because of YNOT Rick (i did t-shirts for YNOT network that year). anyhow, JoeE was running Traffic Cash, met him @ a dinner @ Rio with a few industry big wigs & we hit it off. he hired me to replace JD (his traffic guy at the time) because he liked me & i was just a kid trying to get in the biz running my own little sites. i let him know i wasn't a traffic guru but he didn't care... i think he just hired me cuz he liked me & wanted to give me a hand.

                                                                                                                    anyhow... he got me setup with an apartment in ft lauderdale & we worked daily out of that little "shitty hole of an office in a strip mall" on the beach. Joe would take us out for lunch & try help us to relax even offering us a joint on some occasions - it was fun but after a while, JB (the more business minded, biz stickler in the partnership) saw i was not that useful & fired my ass. i was mad but looking back i don't blame him... he's a shrewed, cunning business man. i respect him but i do think he did JoeE in the whole breakup... Traffic Cash wouldn't be SHIT without JoeE & IMO he just deserved better.

                                                                                                                    anyhow... i'm sad to see his going thru some issues but knowing JoeE & the things he's been thru in life, this is just a bump in the road. JoeE is my nigga & will always be. keep ya head up man... hopefully i'll be lucky enough to sit in your presence again at another dinner.

He was one of the first people in the biz who was nice to me AND my ex husband when we were going to our first conventions. He's always been so charming. We all have periods in our life when we lose a bit of control. Give him a break!
