I'd rather say that you just didn't have enough time to gain enough experience about gallery submitting.
Today it takes longer to get started with galleries, you'd have to build your own Database of TGPs that list you and Partner Accounts,or buy one from my Sig
, and you'd have to work your way up and build a good reputation, and that takes some time.
But on the other hand you have much better tools these days, and since more and more Sites switch to partner accounts you have a better chance to get listed there more often if you're a honest submitter, cause you don't have to compete with thousands of cheaters anymore.
So if you're doing it right these days I'd even say that you can make more money by submitting galleries than 2-3 years ago, even without payed spots.
