Be as funny as hell if you get a phone bill with 2.99 charges on it for every time your phone rang.

with verizon, use get it now for ringtones. With modtones or whatever, each use you buy will download you one ring tone. It's really pretty simple.

I'm in Canada.. so no.. not sure if it'd work for you but do a search for "Polyphonic Wizard" and "Polyphonic Ringtone Converter"

I have one for making old style midi style ringtones as well but I cant remmeber the name offhand.

No, because the tones are so damn expensive. like $2.50 plus some $1.50 download fee and you can't even preview them

I used to work for a company that helped non-wireless sites sell ringtones/graphics etc.. A lot of people buy them, but as with everything wireless, not as much in the US

I'm pretty sure you can't download your own ringtones to Verizon phones without using their GetItNow deal. They have the phones all locked down so they make all the loot (not a bad plan, I must say!)

Sprint/T-Mobile/ATT/Cingular you can download your own tones, and the newer ones even play .wav and mp3. All you need to do is make a sound clip and then link to it from the web browser.

I've been joking around about starting a site called Ring-Moans and selling porn soundtracks, but im never going to actually do it... Somebody run with my idea!

my ringer is always off (phone vibrates) i'm not one of those idiots who thinks they have to be cool and impress everyone cuz 50 cent plays when some jackass calls you.

Hey look at me, I have a phone and it rings

My phones canned ring tones suck, there's only one that is a sampled sound rather than a series of musical notes. I'm the kind of guy that just wants the phone to ring, not play a gay little tune.

There's a sound recorder but unfortunately you can't seem to set a recorded sound as the ring tone. That would rock...
