I don't buy much content at all.
$100 would just cover my bandwidth.
Here's an important "little trick or secret" for you: In this business, like almost every other one, it's more who you know than what you know. You're right when you say most sites won't take 5 submissions per day, except in many cases that's just for joe public. When you begin to build up a reputation for not being a cheater, you will get more and more listings.
It's much tougher today than it was a few years ago to get started. There's lots of competition and sites can only list so many new galleries per day. Plug away at it and don't be afraid to try new things. Above all else, try to network. I spend sometimes up to half my day on ICQ just chatting with people I've met in this business.
