    Anyone use freecycle?

I'm thinking of adding a freecycle type system to my site. I know the official freecycle site uses yahoo groups and I've even been asked to help them develop a system for them so they don't have to use yahoo anymore. But I would rather write something I could use on my site.

If you use freecycle, what features would you add besides search?

Never heard of it, but I'm guessing that this is what you're referring to?

I just signed up and got accpeted to my local group. Just about to go and see what people have to offer.

Cool concept. But like you mentioned, it sucks that they are having to make use of Yahoo and don't have their own system.

I'm thinking of Breaking it all down by area code, state, and categories.

I signed up for the local one here a few months ago and can tell you alot of the issues it seems to have or what it needs.
            Things it needs:
Ability to easily strip out personal info, often the emailers do not know better.
A format based email that has in the title Offer, Wanted, Taken, Item. Then a description area for the item('s).
A user data base for the Admins of each local group to see a numerical breakdown of how many times a given user put up an offer or put up a wanted listing. Apparently the wanted listings are getting abused and this would help balance it.
A way for the user to embed an optional photo of the item with the proper auto cropping and so on.
