Question for MPG owners /Submiters

I've noticed that MPG is a more widely accepted than any other format.

what about AVI. arent DIVX video clips the highest quality taking up the lease amount of space

avi are the highest quality but the file sizes are HUGE

Requires a codec that some surfers don't have.
