I don't know anything about it but it could be a defensive move. Keep the ships moving so they aren't sitting targets like pearl harbor. Again, I have no idea, just a guess.

More likely than not its a little battleship diplomacy park a number of warships off the coast of some nation, conduct wargames outside of their territorial waters, show the third world who the big swinging dick is in the world.

Having been in The Navy, I can tell you this happens all the time. Don't read into it.

Ships in port do nobody any good except for local bar owners.

You don't maintain readiness by sitting in port...

9 Carrier Groups??? That's about 800 planes. Wow.

Something has to be up. Only thing I can think of would be Iran or NK or maybe Syria.

Might also be Bush greenlighted Sharon to take out Iran's nukes and the Israeli's asked for backup.

If it was NK it probably would be the Pacific Fleet carrier groups.
