It's not JUST a matter a how MUCH energy is used but HOW the energy is
        used.

Phasers verses Lasers (Turbo or otherwise)

Laser: Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation
        1) accelerate a charged particle it gives of a photon
        2) TRY to get all the charged particles to give off the same
frequency of light, try to get them emmit photons at the same
time from the same point in their occilation so they don't
        cancel each other out.

Phaser: PHased Amplification of light by Stimulated Emission of Radiation
        1) a succesful laser (all the photons are of a single frequency
        and in phase)
        2) the Phaser is an adaptive weapon: the frequency of the photons
emmitted is CHOSEN to be the natural frequenquency of
occilation of whatever the atoms of the target is.
Successive waves of energy are pumped in at just the right
time so that the amplitude of each succesive occilation of the
target is equal to the last PLUS an increase due the next
wave of energy. (And if the shields of the target, Imperial
Star Destroyer, can only absorb energy in a certain range of
frequencies: CHOOSE a frequency they can't absorb and fire
DIRECTLY THROUGH THEIR SHIELDS, bet Thrawn wishes he had a
        phaser)

Many small energy weapons (Turbolasers) versus a few BIG ones (class 10
        phaser)
Big energy weapon focuses all the energy on a small portion, of
targets shields/hull. Small section of hull can't dissipate
energy as fast as it gets absorbed, goes BOOM!

Many small weapons focuses small amounts of energy at many
different portion of shields/hull. The many small portions of
shields/hulls CAN dissipate the small amounts of energy. Do NOT
        go boom.

        SHIELDS:
Imperial Star Destroyer: (from the 2nd Edition role playing game)
        has 2 types of shields:
        1) particle shields: repels mass
        2) energy shielding: 2 types:
        a) ionic shielding (really only charged particle but
apparently the particle shields can't handle them)
        b) energy shielding shields only opperate in certain range
of frequencies because the energy expenditure would be
        enormous to cover them all.

GALAXY CLASS (and all other Star Trek) STARSHIPS:
have shields that absorb energy from all frequencies (actually
shifts/rotates shield frequencies). Lets say a Galaxy Class
starship goes up against an opponent that can fire at only certain
frequencies (Imperial Star Destroyer) the captain says (you pick
        the best answer):
        a) keep rotating the shields to cover frequencies that
can't shoot at us with, we wouldn't want to be unfair
and make use of our tremendous technological advantage.
        b) rotate the shields to only cover those frequencies that
they can shoot at. (effectively boosting the shields
        with no additional energy expenditure.)

        PHOTON TORPEDOS:
GALAXY CLASS starships have them Imperial Star Destroyers don't.
Basically put equal ammounts of matter and anti-matter in magnetic
bottles. Magnetic bottles break when torpedo smashes into target.
Matter anti-matter mixes and annihilates releasing a rest energy
of 2*m*C^2 (the 2 is for the matter + the anti-matter). If you
have happened to read the Dark Empire source book you would no that Han
Solo's friend Mako got expelled from the Imperial acadamy for blowing up
the mascot moon with a few GRAMS of anti-matter.

Lets say the Enterprise fires 1 Photon Torpedo at an Imperial
Stardestroyer at warp 9 (about 9,800 C) and woops LaForge forgot
to load the anti-matter (just so you know: that process is
completely automated, LaForge only makes sure the injectors are working
        right) guess what happens:
        a) Imperial Star Destroyer sensors can't detect objects
traveling at super-luminal velocities so captain
doesn't raise shields. Imperial Star Destroyer goes
        BOOM!
        b) Imperial Star Destroyer's Captain gets "a bad feeling
about this" so raises shields. Imperial Star Destroyer
        goes BOOM!
If you recall: in RTOJ an A-wing travelling at a speed
much slower than light managed to penetrate the shields
of the Executer, a SUPER-CLASS-STAR-DESTROYER (forget about
a puny Imperial), and crashes into the bridge, causing
the Executer to crash into the 2nd (or 3rd if your
counting the prototype in the Jedi Acadamy Trilogy)
        Death Star.

        POWER SOURCE:
Imperial Star Destroyer: has massive fusion reactors

Galaxy Class Starship: has Matter/Anti-matter reactor, (If you
don't realise the significance go back and read the part
on photon torpedoes) and has fusion generators as a back
up and to power the impulse (sublight) drives.

        SPEED
        Sublight:
GALAXY CLASS has a maximum sublight speed of 0.5 C (MUCH
faster than an A-wing, could this be why a small asteroid
impacting on the Enterprise would cause much more damage
than a big one impacting on an Imperial Star Destroyer
would? Do you think, Do you think, Do you think?)

Imperial Star Destroyer: pretty slow compared to a Galaxy
        class starship.

        Hyper Space vs Warp

Warp Fields for all of you who don't know, warp the
Nature/fabric of a small portion space (surrounding the
starship). They Change the rules of nature, employing
an "apparent mass reduction effect" that counter-acts
the increase of mass an object experiences as it
        approaches the speed of light.

Hyperspace: another dimension, a mirror of ours, where
faster than light travel is allowed.

        Sensors:
Galaxy Class Starship: faster than light, real time sensor's

Imperial Star Destroyer: light speed sensors

Guess what: Galaxy Class Starship sees the Imperial Star Destroyer
first shoots photon torpedo, Imperial Star Destroyer's sensors
never see torpedo (wouldn't matter if they did). Imperial Star
        Destroyer goes Boom.

        TRANSPORTERS

Galaxy Class Starship has them, Imperial Star Destroyer doesn't.
Lets say the captain of the Galaxy Class starship wants to take
the Imperial Star Destroyer intact. He can:

        1) beam the Imperial Star Destroyer's bridge crew wherever he
wants (into space without a vac-suit, or not even rematerialize
        them)

        2) beam knockout gas into the Imperial Star Destroyer

        3) be creative think up a few dozen ways on your own.

So now that, that's settled does anyone want to place bets on the
        Enterprise vs the Death Star.
I think the Enterprise would win, though it MIGHT be close. No I'm
not going to say that class 10 phasers are more powerful than the Death
Star's superlaser. But what happens if the Enterprise goes into
geo-synchronous orbit on the far side of the Death Star and just pounds
away with it's phasers set to a frequency that passed straight through the
Death Star's shields, blow up the shield generators, and let loose with
volley after volley of photon torpedoes on the unshielded section of the
Death Star (which is only the size of a small moon, read the section on
photon torpedos if you can't figure it out).
Your right they wouldn't waste anti-matter that way, not when they
could just use the phasers to drill a whole straight through the Death
Star's reactor core. (if you've seen A New Hope or Return of the Jedi you
know that the Death Star will go BOOM) Heck, why waste the energy of a
phaser blast, just use the transporters to beam out a part of the Death
        Star's reactor core.
OKAY Let's say that for some reason the Enterprise's phasers, photon
torpedo launchers, and transporters aren't working: They send a shuttle,
loaded with anti-matter, on auto-pilot at maximum warp at the Death Star.
Scratch one shuttle, scratch one Death Star, and the Enterprise doesn't
even have to show up for the fight.

The MIGHT part, was the Emperor MIGHT be on board and he MIGHT be
able to sense and kill whoever is commanding the Enterprise or other
Galaxy Class Starship from many light-years away. Or he MIGHT be able to
trick EVERY-ONE on board the Enterprise into thinking that the Death Star
really is just a small moon long enough to shoot the Enterprise once with
the Death Star's super laser. But then again he couldn't fool Data even
if he did fool Dianna Troi (an empath) and everyone else. Forget I said
        it MIGHT be close.

2 photon bays (mite av quantium torps?)

its wud be so 1 sided even luke wud cry

The Jedi would win. But a real Jedi would not kill Data.
                    A Sith Lord might though.

Yoda levitates Data, leaving him suspended in mid-air! Jedi Knights win!

Data calculates this and increases body mass. Once on the ground he approaches yoda and strikes him down with superb speed.

Star Wars II - Yoda explains that mass does not matter. He could just phasor him while he is levitated though.

LOL you guys are fucking stupid...

The Imperial Starship would win hands down..

All it would have to do is send one or two attacks of its ti-fighters toweards the enterprise and it would be done..

No way the Enterprise could handle it.. Yes Enterprise is more mobile than a starship, but the starship doesnt fight its battles, the Ti-Fighters do..

                                                  No contest..

                                                  I have spoken.. Topic closed.
