insane if you ask me.

considering the price of equipment, it's not surprising the high ppc. AFAIK, scientific equipment does very badly on search engines, since few people buy from unknown/unheard of sources. All the major scientific equipment is sold by 'household' names. Just search for 'microscopes' and none of the scientific microscope manufacturers even bother with adwords. People like Leica don't even have to bother. It's like asking Ferrari if they want an adword.

That said, scientific equipment prices are absolutely ludicrous - something as simple as a mini oven which can control it's temperature to +/- 0.1 oC with a platform at the bottom that rotates easily cost $10,000 + (an incubator). Something similar to a washing machine that puts its spin cycle at 13000rpm (a micro centrifuge) will set you back a couple of grand. A frikken light box -
nothing more than a plastic box with a couple of fluorescent tubes in it will cost you $500+.

The more simpler and smaller you get, the more goddam ridiculous it gets - get this (and anyone can verify via BioRad.com) - something I heard recently which stunned me - a plastic spacer for a frikken gel box, which is nothing but plastic and measures 10x1x0.1 cm and sold as a pair will cost you $100. WTF

I tell you, the adult industry can rake it in, but become a lab-name scientific supplier and make shit for peanuts and mark it up 10000-fold
