I'm a programmer... write code for a living. I still can't create a decent site for a living. I'm not a designer.

Likewise, a designer will make a kick ass site, but might not be able to have a members area without knowledge of password protection and content scripts.

Someone who knows search engines, marketing and sales could promote the hell out of a good site but probably couldn't make one either.

So which "webmasters" are you referring to?

I edit html in notepad, but create in dreamweaver. Sorry. It takes me thirty seconds to create a complicated table in dreamweaver. In notepad it would take me hours.

I can't imagine being in any kind of Internet biz and not knowing basic HTML coding. Just for emergencies, if your coders are out and about, its good to know.

I can code a site entirely on notepad, so I'd survive fine.
