Yes and they are considered to be an address. So you could say that your address is rhinosthumbs.com and if you want to send me a fucking invoice, send it to my email box, fucker, and that would be just fine too.

No, that would be like saying copying your entire house on my plot of land is burglary.

                No, domains are not property...

I know .ca domains are owned by CIRA, im sure .com's are owned by some governing organization as well.

A domain is leased, kind of like a phone number... it's "yours" but you never truly own it.

i remember someone comparing them to phone numbers...
but i thought that nowadays they are perhaps already considered property...

Officially domains belong to ICANN which you lease.

so the majority who replied "yes" is wrong?

And do you think that in some future it will change and they will be considered property?

                                                      Generally... no!

If you are speaking to some tax collectors - definately not.

If you are trying to make claims in court - yea!

But in real life.... na... as said above, least according to a rathole of lawyers at InterNic, they will claim they are "similar to phone numbers"...

But hell... cos they say so, don't mean a damned thing!

BTW... I actually had a tax investigator try and tell me they were like real estate and were an appreciating asset

That was before he was told he could pay the reg fees or fuck off - he chose to fuck off :-)
