I think it depends. Teens? yeah, but most of them you should look at there parents, I bet their parents don't tip well either. Canadians and Americans? I think that depends on where abouts you live in those 2 countries. I personally think it has alot to do with your surroundings if you are a good tipper or not. Personally, I tend to think that I tip a bit on the high side, but I like to reward good service, I have friends that don't like to tip at all, but that is because they are used to getting everything and feel that it is their right to be served upon. The bartenders there make 14-18 bucks an hour.. bar/wait staff in North America make bare minimum.Someone just posted in another thread that it's not customary for people to tip in Austrailia. At least we Americans tip SOMETHING.
I Bartended for years... sorry to say older Americans do have a reputation for lousy tippers and when I'm in the states I get more free drinks from bartenders because I tip 20% minimum per drink/order and they are blown away usually. The french tip but are very 12-15% to the tee unless service is exceptional.
I had a redneck say to me after ordering a 60 dollar round for his buddies and leaving me nothing "The only thing I tip is my hat and I aint wearing one"..I took his beers back, gave his money back and said "the only cocksucker I serve has tits and a nice ass and you have neither...SEE YA"

Example - I use to ride taxicabs alot before I got my car. I'd spend up to 50-100 dollars to get there. I'm not made up money, he just made alot of money doing his line of work. Why should I now give him 10-30 dollars?
