Punk vs Rap

Punk all the fucking way! There are way too many bands to list... I'll name a few that haven't been mentioned yet:
Leftover Crack
Choking Victim
INDK
Morning Glory
Raised Fist
The (International) Noise Conspiracy
Youth Brigade
SNFU
Did anyone mention Offspring? They used to be good.
Ignite
At The Drive-In
Against Me!
NOFX (If you don't like these guys, you're probably not punk)
Vision
As for "rap"... mainstream rap is bullshit. Period. Bling-bling, blah blah blah. There is some good lesser-known stuff that isn't worth naming. Just throw out your rap CDs and buy punk.

That's a very interesting statement. I think that most of the music that sounds punk these days isn't totally punk. Refused is subversive by being one of the few, if not the only, Marxist/Anarchist bands around (they've broken up, but they are still relatively new.) Bands like Exploited and Casualties shout "Anarchy!" like 50 times in every chorus, yet these guys believe that punk is measured according to the size of your mohawk.Originally posted by Mikel

Leftover Crack and Choking Victim are bands I'd definitely recommend if you want something with a provocative message in the lyrics.Comment

Fuck that...never tought I'd see a fans of #12 here....Originally posted by jt420
rap and punk are both ok but in all honesty i prefer indie, technical metal, or hardcore.
Such bands as
bloodlet
minus the bear
converge
the # 12 looks like you
sawtooth grin
kind of like spitting
no knife
god speed you black emperor
etc etc
what can i say im a music snob. if it doesnt have good tone and quality riffs fuck off.
You like more math metal stuff like dilliger escape plan? Converge and #12 are definitly 2 of my favorite band...but I do listen to a loooooot of shit....(punk, hip hop, hardcore, metal, electro)
if you're into that stuff (math metal/grind core ) check out:
The red chord
Psyopus (AWESOME BAND)
From a second story window
Glass casket
I've got a ton of that shit, damn I like it
now here's a converge song for everyone to enjoy (or should I say for everyone to hate)
converge - concubinemmm my sig was too big... no more cool animation

I can listen to everything...However, if I have to pick from the 2, Punk is my choice. I've been listening to a lot of Op Ivy, DK, Sex Pistols, Circle Jerks, Old Bad Religion, The Exploited, etc. lately. I appreciate different parts of the music through different periods. Love or hate the new bands, Travis Barker from Blink 182 is one of the quickest/most in control drummers I've listened to lately.
With that being said... WHEN'S THE PATY!?!?
