The Plaza...That's where I stay everytime I go to NYC.
Ok. I've never been to NYC in my entire lifetime, but The Plaza looked cool from what I saw of it in Home Alone.

If your budget is $150 or under go to Priceline.com and cross your fingers. They usually come through.
If you are in the $150 to $200 range check out The Hudson www.ianschragerhotels.com or The Time www.thetimeny.com
If you are doing anything over $200 check out The W hotels in this order The W Times Square, The W Union Square, The W The Court or The W Tuscany. All have extremely hot bars inside of them.
Still, they don't beat the ambiance of The Hudson, that should be your first choice. There are specials on the website.I've trusted my sites to them for over a decade...

The best deal I found to date is to park your car (for free) at one of the cluster of hotels on the Jersey side of the river (i forget the name of the city) and take the bus that stops outside the hotels there and in 15 minutes you are in Times Square at the Port Authority building. The prices are very decent compared to Manhattan and its not a hassle to come and go with this direct bus that runs all the time.Comment
