1949 panhead - bored and stroked to 86 c.i., S&S flywheels, Manley valves, 2" SU carb, close ratio geared tranny

What it lacked in lower end, it more than made up for on the top end.

If you think H-D doesn't have HO, check out their torque. You can twist your own frame with it.

hehe - let me tell you, that was one helluva road trip. My partner (in the pic) and I were the real deal. We both built our bikes from scratch, hitting up all the motorcycle swapmeets, buying just the right stuff for our custom restorals.

I had $8,000 invested in mine, and that was 25 years ago, so you can imagine what it would cost today.

That was our first major road trip after they were done, riding up and down the State of California, needless to say, it was a trip that neither of us will ever forget.

Some great stories came out of that road trip for sure.

Those are some cool pics. My cousin/godfather moved to Daytona YEARS ago. I think he runs or owns a bar down there or something. I "bumped" into him in Taladega a few years ago. I went to the track, and he was the first person I saw at the top of the ramp.

When I was a kid and I would go visit him, I would want to see all the pics of his trips for Bike Week and other trips he made. I would have to wait while he took ou all the "bad" ones. It usually left about 10 pics.
