Granted, I dont promote too awful many sponsors, and I rep for PimpRoll. But before that, I was an affiliate.
I would really suggest that you try YOUR traffic with as many sponsors as you can track effectively. Pick your niches, send your traffic, check your bottom line. Go from there.
Probably preaching to the choir, but it's still good advice for us all ;)
