Destruction of regional cultures. Corporatisation of culture. Shift of focus from quality to marketability. In short, globalisation of the bland and easily digestible. Of course, all this is already happening.
I remember you remarking on Oprano how different life was in Jamaica when you visited recently. My impression was that you found it refreshing and an enjoyable change of pace. Would you want to lose that and have it replaced with half a dozen McDonalds', some strip malls, two Walmarts and a cineplex complete with food court?
