Do you own misspelled domains?

How many do you own?

What criteria do you use in picking the best ones?

In your experience, is it better to have the first letter wrong? The last? Does it matter?

Do you redirect the traffic to a sponsor upon entry or give the sufer a few banner and link choices to better filter their interests?

the way I have always come up with ones to get is by mistake myself

if I go to type a site into the address bar and mispell it myself, i try and get that mispelling...cause if i did it, many others have too

i usually set up a site that is relevant to the actual spelling, but also load it with other link that pertain to the subject matter that make me cash flow

i have one that gets about 100 uniques a day, it doesn't do much though in sales....google adsense is what makes the most on it

here is a funny one...i have papajohnonline.com...the real one is papajohnsonline.com

i get emails all the time from people who complain or fucked up an order....

i don't have a thing on the domain though, i guess i coould get some adsense shit up there

I used to have a dyslexic typo of nascar.com. But they got pretty upset one day, so I gave it back. The Daytona 500 was always my best day of the year.

People park their domains at PPC places too, and it's like WTF? I just don't get it.

I registered 18 misspells over the past week as a test.

15 are adult.

13 are very specific adult interests like cumshots, creampies, blowjobs, handjobs, etc

I snagged 2 variations of the word orgasm which is very general but worthy of testing.

and 2 are non adult but variations of a hugely searched for term.

1 is the misspelling of onlinecasino.com, which - as a search term (online casino) ... I found is searched for about 1.25 million times per month.

I guess I'll see in a few days what it all really translates into, but I'm guesstimating that the adult domains alone will generate about 200 type-ins per day.

Based on the 4 - 12 hits per day I get from extremely weak and broadly general domains like wwwpinkpussy.com and wwwhotsluts.com and the amount of searches for those terms ... I think I'm in the right ball park because these are way more specific and in tremendously higher demand.

... again, this is only a test

That's hilarious. I used work for Papa Johns. I would tell customers who were complaining to go to PapaJohnOnline to complain, knowing half the idiots wouldn't add the s.

I have been a mainstream develper since 95, a few years ago I was looking at expired mainstream domains for a client and came across a typo of a paysite that I was a member of, I bought the domain and redirected it and forgot about it, a few weeks later I got a check for around 600.00, I havent done a mainstream site since. I still make between 300-700 a month off the original adult domain I bought.
