i've heard linux people saying 'gimp' is just as good as ps (which i doubt, having only used it once). it's free, and comes with redhat and probably all the other major distros

Paint Shop Pro from http://www.jasc.com/ is like a lowend photoshop.. can even use a lot of photoshop plugins.Comment

Ulead's PhotoImpact is actually quite good. A lot of the older stuff in my portfolio was created with it. I was able to get decent results out of it and it's well under $100.

If you want to buy it, go to a junior college. Sign up for a cheap 1 unit class. Get your student ID, then go to one of the online academic software malls and order it for $100 or so.Comment
