I need a cheap host for some mainstream sites. They wont have much traffic for a while so I'm looking for something cheap...around $4 bucks a month.

Take it from me, dont go cheap. I went cheap when it came to a dedicated server (servermatrix) and had nothing but problems. Hosting is the most important thing for a web site, what's the point of having a site if no one can view it? -
i agree... you get what you pay for and when you shit goes down... you want 24/7 tech support to help you...

We use h2oh-hosting.com virtual hosting, it's been pretty reliable for us. At the rate we're going we'll outgrow it in a couple of months and move to a dedicated server, though.
