    Texas Hold'em how much $$$

Rumour has it that the casino in our town (brisbane, australia) is getting Texas Hold'em... also heard that minimum bet is going to be $5 or $10 with a limit of $500... so how much should i need before even sitting at the table?

A pro limit player wants at least 300 BB (big bets) in his bankroll, but you can sit down with say, 25 BB. In limit poker a big bet is the "10" in "5-10."

A pro no-limit player might want at least 40 to 50 buy-ins in his bankroll. But you can sit down with maybe 4 or 5.

It sounds like you're talking about no-limit, so make sure you sit down with the most you can buy in with, but keep another $1500 available so you can get some play if you run into nasty variance (like losing AA all-in pre-flop to KK).

If you're sitting down to a limit 5-10 game, sit down with $250.

Sit in for $200 to start. Don't play no limit holdem until you get good.

            That's probably the best advice.
