Rumour has it that the casino in our town (brisbane, australia) is getting Texas Hold'em... also heard that minimum bet is going to be $5 or $10 with a limit of $500... so how much should i need before even sitting at the table?

A pro limit player wants at least 300 BB (big bets) in his bankroll, but you can sit down with say, 25 BB. In limit poker a big bet is the "10" in "5-10."Originally posted by bawdyRumour has it that the casino in our town (brisbane, australia) is getting Texas Hold'em... also heard that minimum bet is going to be $5 or $10 with a limit of $500... so how much should i need before even sitting at the table?
A pro no-limit player might want at least 40 to 50 buy-ins in his bankroll. But you can sit down with maybe 4 or 5.
It sounds like you're talking about no-limit, so make sure you sit down with the most you can buy in with, but keep another $1500 available so you can get some play if you run into nasty variance (like losing AA all-in pre-flop to KK).
If you're sitting down to a limit 5-10 game, sit down with $250.Last edited by spentrent; 02-27-2005, 07:18 PM. -

Sit in for $200 to start. Don't play no limit holdem until you get good.Originally posted by bawdyRumour has it that the casino in our town (brisbane, australia) is getting Texas Hold'em... also heard that minimum bet is going to be $5 or $10 with a limit of $500... so how much should i need before even sitting at the table?
