There has got to be a way to find out why I cannot send mail to anyone with an AOL address. This really blows ass. Everything I send to an AOL addy gets returned.
Originally posted by TwinTone I know AOL uses RBL's.. so go check YOUR ip, and the IP of your SMTP here : http://openrbl.org/
If you are listed at a ton of places, then im sure that is the issue, and you will need to find a new SMTP to send your email through.
What's an RBL?
And to note, I should not be listed anywhere, I think it's my host or there IPs. I only mail about 4 people from this account, and 2 of them are on AOL. But all our other sites are on the same host and we have the same problem with ALL of our e-mail addresses.

Do you have any websites with Formmail? There's a way that spammers can exploit that to use your domain/isp/etc as a bounce for spam. We had a few domains blacklisted on AOL that way without even realizing it... Once we realized what it was we fixed the security hole, but it happens all the time.

What I meant is your host is listed.. or your ISP.. depending where you are sending email from.
Uh, yeah, I was just asking what the RBL stood for, not a complete technical breakdown. I thought it would be faster just to ask here.
It would have to be my host, I have 3 ISP's, all with different IPs, so that would rule them out.

No, it's not FormMail, but it is a similar type of mail program. I have asked our host about it for months and gotten no resolution. They say that AOL has not given them an answer as to why we are having problems. But it's all of our domains, not just the adult ones, that's why I suspect they are blacklisted.
They have a list of hosts by country and you can probably assume that if they have lots of different spammers listed with that host, ESPECIALLY ROKSO spammers which are the worst, they will probably be blocked by AOL.
You might try http://openrbl.org/ and enter the host name. That would include listings from multiple block lists.
Of the many big hosts advertised on GFY, most seem to have some degree of SPAM support. One of the worst of the US based hosts is WEBAIR..... multiple ROKSO spammers and many SPAMMING GFY webmasters host here because they SPAMAIR ignores all SPAM complaints and will host ANYONE( no matter how slimey) if they have the cash....
