I recommend that you use the second one, but tone done the bevel effects just a tad. I think at the level they are at now the white contrasts too much. You can take a look at my logo design site (shameless plug)

Holy Shit. Your design work is worse than Fletch's. I could steal a copy of Photoshop and do better than that, and I have never even used it before

Oh come on, they weren't that bad! They were neat, clean, and could be easily worked into most pages & color schemes. I think a little pricey compared to what they offer, but simple enough to work for someone who can't make them, themselves. If stroke & emboss are equivalent to high quality design, then I agree, fletch is by far, the way to go!
