C-Murder, whose real name is Corey Miller and the brother of Master P, has been in jail for the past three years on a second-degree charge. But despite that setback, the rapper has recorded a new album, and even shot a video for his first single, "Y'all Heard Of Me."
According to the Associated Press, Sheriff Harry Lee of Jefferson Parish, Louisiana wasn't aware of the video filming, and felt as if he was tricked by letting film crews in.
"Suffice it to say, I'm not pleased," Lee told the AP. "The only thing I'll say is, he will not make another video while he's in my jail."
Miller's lawyer, Ron Rakosky, said the footage was recorded by a pair of film crews, one from Court TV and the other from a local cable-access program, both of which received approval from the sheriff's office to interview the rapper. "The bottom line is, we didn't do anything wrong," Rakosky said.
"Y'all Heard Of Me" has been circulating the streets via DJ Smallz' latest mixtape Southern Smoke #16, and is the first offering his upcoming album The Truest Sh-t I Ever Said. The video will feature C-Murder adorned in an orange prison jumpsuit, as well as footage of B.G. performing in the middle of a big crowd at the New Orleans housing project where Miller and his brothers grew up.
Miller was charged with second-degree murder for the killing of a 16-year-old named Steve Thomas at the Platinum Club in Harvey, Louisiana, on January 12, 2002. He was found guilty last year, but the conviction was overturned, and he is currently awaiting a news trial (see "C-Murder Granted New Trial, May be Released On Bail ").
C-Murder's The Truest Sh-t I Ever Said is slated to drop March 22 on Koch Records.
