yes, PP, SEL, high perf, and taildragger endorsements, i have about 3000 hrs TT.

have been a pilot and a/c owner since 1986.

you must have reasonably good health (must be able to pass a minimum of 3rd class medical every 2 years and have zero drinking or drug problems, no fainting spells, heart trouble, etc.)

basic training for Private pilot takes about 70 hours average in USA and can cost 6-10K if you don't own an airplane.

the faa has a new sport pilot designation which allows flight of very lightweight 2 seaters (i think the cap on gross weight is about 1400 lbs) that has lessened training and health restrictions.

and as someone here said it ain't so much air that keeps an aircraft aloft, it is money, annual inspections, big insurance, and plenty of red tape.

BUT, having said all that, IF you fly down close to the ground in a small plane you will experience things that other people just never see.

and it will definitely change your life.
