        personally, i dislike war and dont enjoy seeing pics of people who died, unless they died for a good reason. example: that dead raghead was caught setting bombs on a usa camp. then, he got what he deserved. but, if he was an innocent citizen caught in the wrong place, wrong time, then i cant say i agree with that picture and feel disgusted by the lack of respect for the innocent who are killed merely for being the same race/color as the true bad guys.

        however, its war. and in that case, you cant trust anyone and its our guys or their guys, so maybe that guy shouldve put two thumbs up.

                                Sure there is crap ... and "incidents" happen. The difference is, these current incidents are not committed under any battleground conditions nor in the middle of a mass crowd frenzy. Neither are they committed by "aparently decent people" who "supposed" to be "setting an example to the world" while they proclaim rights of "freedom, liberty and justice".

                                It is becoming more clear that these actions are intentional policy and are not confined to "a few rogue soldiers". However, we are still at the introductory lying stage at the moment and there sure is a lot of "I wish someone brought this to my attention" and "I never had an inkling that anything like this was going on".

                                The fact is... reports were dumped firmly on the desks of those responsible last year and they chose to ignore them. Further, they actively engaged in hiding the truth from international organisations and knowingly contravened the Geneva Convention.

                                                    I don't think we have seen anything yet - there is a LOT more to come out. Hell knows.. I can see this going from the PFC level right into the Oval Office and out of the hands of any US investigation teams.

                                                    I have seen plenty images, both from Iraq and Afghanistan, where there is little doubt these are war crimes and are more "potent" than the material I've seen in any press. If this shit is not treated honestly and transparently, I sure will be pressing the photographer to release em!! There are a good few more who needs some "real justice" levelled out on them!

                                                    This sounds like a legacy that will be remembered for decades - another deliberate "achievement" of a total dumbass President.

                                                                        This is yet another US adventure into the outside world - a predictable fuck up from the first day.

                                                                        I only feel sorry for all the actual innocent people who have died as a result of this ignorant judgement at the top to embark on this "alledged war".

                                                                        There is plenty mention of the 700 US troops who died - there is a fucking lot more in the death count of children alone - nevermind the many thousands of adults. Add to that the old "syndromes" that have started emerging and will affect, not only US soldiers, but 1000's of Iraqui people - ie the results of depleted uranium from these nice surgical strike weapons that some are, for some warped reason, proud of.

                                                                        I'm all in favor of immediate trials for offences against humanity - that not only includes the Al-Quaeda mob, but most of the instigators of this "war", which was well-known to be totally illegal under international law from the day of it's conception.

                                                                                There is a clear violation of the Geneva Convention at that concentration camp in Cuba. US authorities have already been presented with several Red Cross reports where they have pointed out violations.

                                                                                However, we have a rogue regime in power who clearly, from the track record, dismiss treaty obligations as it suits them. This is no different to the behaviour of any other rogue regime.

                                                                                There is a price to be paid for this, tho I doubt those who will pay the ultimate price, will be those directly involved.

                                                                                        The current US Admin deliberately adopted a policy whereby legal officers of the Military advocate's office (JAGS) would not have access to interrogation units as was customary in the past.

                                                                                        This alone, could have "restrained" the abuse.

                                                                                        It appears that several senior (jag) officer's have firmly advised commanders of their obligations under international law and warned them of problems if they turned a blind eye.

                                                                                        Several have clearly chosen to ignore this advice - Miller, the commander who was in Cuba and is not heading the Iraq abuse, is one. Even his actions in Cuba violate the Geneva Convention and there are .. at least.. two major cases being raised in the international court - these being actions taken by international organisations on behalf of (at least) two people detained in Cuba and since released.

We put Reza Pahlavi in power before him, Pinochet before him, Marcos before him. This country has done a lot of good in the world but we've done a LOT of harm, and we've instituted and maintained a lot of regimes that make Hussein's look humanitarian.
