had that happen and also thought it was the video card . . . it wasn't. In that instance, I believe I had a screw that was causing a short. Putting together your own custom box is not hard but you've got to be careful about every step. Something as simple as a screw can mess up the whole process. Or something equally as simple as not grounding yourself can cause you to shock the mobo or processor or memory and there goes that component. (a basic precaution is to touch the sides of the case or power supply)

I'd carefully back out, take everything out and start again.
