I have case full of brand new components. And when I go to start the system for the first time and load windows, It seems like the video card is not being recognized...

A case as in a custom box or branded box? I'm assuming custom box, since a branded box would have a drivers CD and everything. And i'm sure you've tried reinstalling the drivers -- you may have a bad VidCard.Structure Northwest :: the cure for the common code ::

ok...let me start from the beginning and list the components.
motherboard

When I got everything installed I made diskettes to format and partition the sata drive on another computer.
I turned on the new computer with the diskette in it as per manufacturer specs and when I turned the puter on I get a blank screen...the light on the monitor still blinks like there's no signal.
I get no bios or command prompt. Well actually...I don't know that since I can't even see what's going on...it seems to me there'd be some sort of standard vga drivers that would allow me to see SOMETHING.Insert Value Here.Comment

Sounds like an AGP issue, try moving it from 8x to 4x, or auto in the bios... definately sounds like an agp issue thoOriginally posted by -=HOAX=-Comment

Try pulling the video card out of the motherboard and then put it back in. See if it just wasn't seated correctly.
If that doesn't help, then try taking the video card out of another machine and put it into the new machine and see if it turns on with that video card.Comment

i think a bios reset (with one of the jumpers ) is a good idea usually when there is a hardware "malfunction" like memory or vga you'll here beeps or clicks from the pc speaker (if its there)Comment

had that happen and also thought it was the video card . . . it wasn't. In that instance, I believe I had a screw that was causing a short. Putting together your own custom box is not hard but you've got to be careful about every step. Something as simple as a screw can mess up the whole process. Or something equally as simple as not grounding yourself can cause you to shock the mobo or processor or memory and there goes that component. (a basic precaution is to touch the sides of the case or power supply)

Does the MB have a led on it so you know its getting power?? Does the fan turn on on the cpu/videocard if it has one.

Hey man...as you know I am not a tech guy but this did just happen to me so I thought I would chime in. I did the same thing...all new componets etc. and had the same problem happen, come to find out my monitor couldn't handle the resolotution or something of the video card. Plugged in a different monitor (after reinstalling everything and kicking it twice) and all was well. Doubt this is your issue but may be worth a try.Comment

If it is a hardware problem the DFI board will output beep error codes. Make sure the speaker is hooked to the motherboard so you can hear the beeps.
If there are no beeps you need to check all your power supply connections.
You may have a short somewhere so turning it on trying pointless stuff will burn out the board and/or chip. Pull the motherboard out and set it up on a cardboard box.
I have had this happen before and it ended up being a short from the case.Comment

yep, make sure all fans are going and that you are getting power to the motherboard. I would pull all cards except the video card and see what happens. Pretty much just plug the hard drive, ram, cpu, and video card into the board and see if you get anything like beeps or anything on the screen. If you get something, then 1 by 1 start plugging other pieces back in.Comment
