to catch drivers with outstanding warrents, expired driver¢s licenses, and so on? I think it's kinda fucked up what do you guys think?
Should the police be allowed to set up checkpoints?

I think it sucks for the honest, law abiding citizens to have to take their own personal time out of their day to deal with it. "There is more than one way to fry a fish..."
On the flip side, it does keep the roads and neighborhoods safer. As long as it takes less thank 3 minutes and doesn't take 2 hours to go through a checkpoint, I really don't see too much of a problem with it, especially around the "drinking" hoildays.Comment

I would have to say "Fuck No!"
First they start with stops for things most people could agree on, then it turns into stops for reasons that aren't so good.
Want to stop drunk drivers? Actually prosecute the people that are caught, or maybe stake out the bars after 10pm.Comment

This has nothing to do with our freedoms & this has nothing to do with bush! I think they have a right to do that. Driving a car is a privilege, not a right. So I feel they have a right to make a check point and check the persons background! Also, they are suppose to have a place where you can turn around before the checkpoint! Atleast in california.Originally posted by Manowar
its amazing how blatantly our freedoms are being taken from us nowdays, the sooner bush goes out of office the better

I saw the same thing or something similar. They had it all set up in a school's gymnasium or something like that. They sent the letters out to all of the people with warrants stating that they won some sort of sweepstakes. All of these losers show up, and they have some cops in like tuxedos and shit welcoming them. Then, from behind a partition, all of these cops come out yelling and screaming. Fuckin classicOriginally posted by nathan_f
saw a video a while back of how the police send you "you won a boat" or something letters to people with outstanding warrants. anyone that showed got arrested.. it was hilarious
I'm still not sure that's right nor not, but a chuckle never the less.Comment

That kills the bars in small towns and communities. Seen it happen to many of them around here. Small price to pay I guess to keep drunks off the roads, but it certainly isn't fair to the business owners. No one goes in to buy drinks when there is a cop parked outside waiting for you to leave.Originally posted by HeadPimp

You realize if you turn around before the checkpoint you will have 20 cops chase you down and be treated like a criminal immediately?Originally posted by JDog

How can it be a priviledge? a priviledge has to be granted to you... are you saying you believe that the road is government property so it's a priviledge for you to use that? fuck that, you own the government....Originally posted by JDog

hehe I was stopped leaving the bar once. I hadn't had anything except Coke to drink, so the officer let me go without scanning my license or anything. But if I *had* been drinking, then hey, I shouldn't have been driving! Duh!Originally posted by evildick
